CGR's on-line resources will help you get started, in your own home, on your own time.  When you're ready, we also provide 1-on-1 guidance, by phone and via email.

CGR is not just a website.
CGR is a coordinated set of activities and resources aimed at helping you make a difference with your philanthropic giving.  We know you have many questions when it comes to community giving:

  • What difference can my giving make in seemingly huge issues?
  • How can I learn about what a community needs?
  • How can I learn more about potential grantees and programs?
  • How can I know my giving is making a difference?

CGR won’t tell you to whom or how much to give … we will provide:

  • Help identifying how your giving can strengthen a community
  • Tips and resources for taking the first step into community giving
  • Specific and accessible issue briefings
  • Referrals to organizations and consultants
  • Connections and learning opportunities with networks of peers and experts

About Us:

CGR is a unique organization - the result of a partnership between the Neighborhood Funders Group (NFG) and The Aspen Institute Nonprofit Sector and Philanthropy Program (NSPP). Tapping into both organizations' knowledge and networks, CGR garners all the benefits of an autonomous organization while achieving the economies of scale offered by this unique collaboration.

Located in Washington, DC, Neighborhood Funders Group is a national network of foundations and philanthropic organizations whose members support community-based efforts to improve economic and social conditions in low-income communities.

Also located in Washington, DC, The Aspen Institute fosters enlightened leadership and dialogue on contemporary issues.  The Nonprofit Sector and Philanthropy Program (NSPP) is one of fifteen Aspen policy programs.  NSPP seeks to expand knowledge of the nonprofit sector and philanthropy through research and dialogue focused on public policy management and other important issues.
